There probably isn't a more interesting American filmmaker than David Lynch. He's doing some interesting things on his web site which has some things for free and some subscription things as well. He now has a daily weather report where you can see him read the weather for the day.

Tom Cruise Inc.

While there is a lot being written about Tom Cruise in the press now, there isn't a lot of substance to the stories, but Edward Jay Epstein has another great article on Slate about producing and budgeting and Mr. Cruise. The latest article is called Tom Cruise Inc. and it gives you a glimpse inside the producing skills that Cruise has developed over the years.

Graduation Ceremony 2005

Line of Graduates
Line of Graduates,
originally uploaded by Chris Campbell.
It was fun to wear a robe and attend Convocation 2005. This was the last Screen Arts class to complete the course at the Bell Road location of the Halifax Campus. The ceremony was a nice one and the best part was seeing the Screen Arts learners complete their two year journey. I took some pictures of Screen Arts Graduation 2005.

Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement Address

for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been 'No' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.
This is the time of year when lots of commencement addresses show up all over the Web. There is some great advice out now and 'You've Steve Jobs gave the commencement address at Stanford last week. Some neat insights from the driving force behind Apple.

Graduation 2005

It's hard to believe that the year is over. The most amazing thing is to realize that I've known the graduates for at least two years. The time has flown by and it was a lot of fun and some great films were made. The last few days were filled with lots of great memories and the realization that a great group of people are out of school now and are starting to change the world. Thanks to everyone for the last few years and I hope that everyone gets a bit of a rest before things start all over again.
The graduates will always be part of the Screen Arts community, so I hope that you'll stay in touch with us and contribute to this blog as you make new things, work on films and have fun. See you all soon!
